Painted Turtles

Did you know that the Painted Turtle is the state reptile of Michigan? The Painted Turtle can be found in both the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan and was designated Michigan’s state reptile in 1995. Painted Turtles can often be found on logs in ponds basking in the sun. The scientific name for the Painted Turtle is Chrysemys picta.
