Did you know that Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore along Lake Michigan encompasses many sand dunes, some of which tower hundreds of feet above the lake? Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in the lower peninsula of Michigan runs for miles along the shoreline of Lake Michigan and also encompasses North Manitou Island and South Manitou Island. Many hiking trails, including Sleeping Bear Point Trailhead and Empire Bluff Trail which leads to a lake overlook, are also found at Sleeping Bear Dunes and offer beautiful views of Lake Michigan, the dunes and the surrounding natural area.

Dune Climb
The Dune Climb with picnic area and restrooms is located in Glen Arbor, Michigan, a few miles north of the Phillip A. Hart Visitor Center at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore which is in Empire, Michigan. The top of the Dune Climb offers views of Glen Lake, but more dunes must be hiked for a view of Lake Michigan.
